Still wondering why the Congress leaders are against to this book and not allowing to publish or release in India, but as far as i read the book (i finished reading 'Opening' section), there is no harm for Congress to let this book release in India. I think the author has given the name 'The Red Saree' symbolically because Sonia Gandi was wearing a Red Saree wooven by Nehru during her wedding with Rajiv Gandhi
'Il Sari Rosso' is the Italian title of the book / Novel 'The Red Sari' (or) 'The Red Saree' written by Javier Moro is the tale of the Nehru-Gandhi family told through the story of Sonia Gandhi. At this moment, i am not interested to go and read what Sonia Gandhi was doing at her age 18, so I didn't continue reading it. But if you are interested to read the book 'The Red Saree', you can download it here.

This is a 31 pages (3 chapters) of 'The Red Saree' book. The opening section starts with a Vedic Prayer sentence that says "Lead me from darkness into light, from death to immortality." This section is mainly about the death and the rituals after his death and Sonia's feelings at the time. Those who don't know the real name of Sonia Gandhi, will know that she is 'Sonia Maino' by the time you finish reading this section. Forgive Peter Hearn who translated this into english for his poor knowledge about the colours of Indian Flag where you can find him saying (Yellow, White and Green) in page number 4. We don't know why this book is so controversial in India unless we read it.
You can find lot of Junk or accusations on Sonia in the web under the name 'Sonia Maino', especially the accusations made by Tamil Politician and founder of Janata Party Subrahmanian Swamy on his website.
Synopsis of the book 'The Red Saree'.
The adventure of a woman. The saga of a family. The epic story of a nation.
Cambridge, 1965. Sonia Maino, a 19-year old Italian student, meets a young Indian called Rajiv Gandhi. She is the daughter of a humble family from near Turin; he belongs to the most powerful clan in India. This is the beginning of a love story that even death cannot destroy.
The Italian girl leaves her world and her past behind for love, and embraces the culture of her new country, India. A country like no other, where twenty million gods are worshipped, eight hundred different languages are spoken and over five hundred political parties stand for election.
With a powerful narrative style, Javier Moro dramatizes the great Nehru-Gandhi family saga, the story of men and women trapped in the clutches of power, prisoners of a destiny they have not chosen. That same destiny will lead Sonia to embody the hopes of more than a billion people in the country of Mahatma Gandhi, whose surname she also bears.
