Separate Telangana? Who is Majority? Who is Minority?

15. December 2009 by close to reality 26 Comments

When you elect your class representative (class leader), what will you do? In democracy, voting.

When you elect your ward member , what will you do? In democracy, voting.

When you elect your Surpanch, MLA, MP, what will we do? In democracy, voting.

In all these cases, who got the majority number of votes, is the winner.

When brothers and sisters in a family or separating, what will we do? get every one's agreement on various issues and properties etc., etc., Separate with some agreements.

If there is a dispute while dividing, what will we do? Go to Court, and get the Judgement.

Like this there are some approachable ways to ask for or discuss on Separate Telangana, But What happened today? One person who lost the above said voting did some drama called hunger strike by enjoying the luxuries of top class treatment and drinks. And our UPA Government announced a separate state for that?

If there is a seperation in Andhra Pradesh (my home), there must be some agreements between Telangana region and other regions (brothers). But who is Chidambaram or Pranab Mukherjee to sit in New Delhi and decide what they want to do with my home? Where is the agreement between the family members here? None of the family members know that their house is going to break up into parts. Some family members are eagerly waiting for this break up for so many years on various reasons, and most of the family members are opposing this break up from the begining. Ok, consider Chidambaram, Sonia Gandhi & Pranab are the members of jury bench, then where is the court proceeding? When they called Andhra People for court hearing? In Chidambaram's dream that mid night?

If we discuss and separate, then both parties will be happy and will maintain good relations in future. If leaders of Telangana want to get the Separate Telangana like thieves in the mid night without the knowledge of other family members, then no doubt Andhra & Telangana's relations will be nothing better than India & Pakistan relations.

Have a look at the following to know how many family members are there in each region and then decide who is majority and who is not? (excluding Hyderabad) analysis here (Statistical Analysis of Development in 3 regions of United Andhra Pradesh)

Here 17,301 villages and almost half of the villages in the above 11,148 villages are asking for Samaikya Andhra. We don't need to consider Hyderabad here as no one in Hyderabad want a Separate State. So who is who to decide here about a separate state?

@ Chandu

I totally agree that one can not ignore or neglect the feelings of the people of telangana who are demanding for a separate state. But i want my state to be united (telugu speaking people), so i suggest our telangana leaders to demand for everything they want in the same way they are doing now for a separate state. We can make the government to accept all our demands, whether it is education or jobs or projects.

Do agitation unitedly irrespective of the party for the development but not for the separation. When we made them to give a statement of "initiating the process of telangana" why can't we make them to say 'yes' for all our demands for development. We can do it definitely. 119 MLA seats is not a small number to achieve what we want for telangana.

But the only problem is these 119 members don't want to be united for the needs of people, but they do united for their personal agendas. Believe me, Once (IF) separate telangana comes, all this unity will be vanished, and the crab story begins. But there will not be any other change in the common man's life other than that now he is living separate, no more in a joint family. That's all.

Let us ask ourselves, why not these leaders and T-seekers not united for other causes in these 57 years? Who is manda krishna madiga and what is his involvement in Separate Telangana movement? what is his personal agenda in a separate state? Like him, you name it and you know why they are in this movement.

Hi Friends, here is the few scenarios which will explain why we need Telangana !!!

People staying outside AP are thinking that seperate Telagana is
politically motivated and this is someting like India-Pakistan
partition.Look into the facts given below and see from the past
50years Telangana region has been exploited in the name of United AP

Whenever the topic of Telangana is raised, many of us blindly support Andhra
or Telangana based on where we come from. Not sure how many really think of
why the demand for separate state has been there for such a long time. The 2
major reasons why the demand has been pending for so many years is WATER AND
HYDERBAD. People around the state have earned and invested in and around
Hyderabad so there is a concerns about the safety of the investment if the
state is separated while both the major rivers in our state flow mostly
through Telangana. Below are some facts that are few reasons for the demand.
Sentiments can be foolish but not facts.
§   There are 10 districts in Telangana, 9 in Andhra and 4 in Rayalaseema.
Out of these 7 districts in Telangana, 3 in Andhra and 1 in Rayalaseema are
considered severely backward districts which means 70% of districts in
Telangana are backward while in Andhra it is 35% and in Rayalaseema it is
25%. Apart from these there are some areas in all parts of the state which
are also backward.
§   45% of the state income comes from Telangana region. When it comes to
utilization of funds, the share of Telangana is only 28%.
§   Normally canals are dug to supply water to the crops from rivers for
cultivation. The amount of land cultivated through canals in just Guntur
district is more than the land cultivated with canals in entire Telangana
region.
§   Nagarjuna sagar dam is built in Nalgonda district which is in Telangana
but majority of the water from the dam is used for Krishna and Guntur
district. The original dam was supposed to be build much ahead of its
present location but the location was changed so that it falls in the
Telangana region. Due to the construction of the dam several hectares of
Lime stone mines vanished as part of the dam back waters. Everyone know that
lime stone is used for producing cement. Even the natural resources were not
allowed to remain.
§   Fluorinated water problem is only in Nalgonda district which has not
been resolved since decades.
§   Two major rivers Krishna and Tungabhadra enter the state of AP in the
district of Mahaboobnagar(the biggest district in Telangana) but the
district always remains the worst draught hit areas along with Anantapur
because there is no project and process with which the water can be
utilized. The plans for utilization has been pending for decades.
§   RDS (Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme) is build in Mahaboobnagar to provide
water to 85000 hectares of land in the district. The leaders of Rayalaseems
blasted the gates of RDS and water is supplied to KC (Kurnool-Cudapah) canal
while only remaining water, if any, is supplied to the lands in
Mahaboobnagar.
§   3 TMC of water from Gandipet is sufficient to supply drinking water to
our city. Every year 1700 TMC of water is wasted and is flown into Bay of
Bengal from river Godavari . Starting from Nizambad to Bay of Bengal there
is no project allowed to build on Godavari . If it is built leaders in
Godavari districts fear that the fertile lands in the area may fall short of
water. If the Godavari water is utilized properly, there will be no scarcity
for food grains in our state.
§   In Telangana regions, only few areas cultivate one crop a year and very
rarely two crops a year while most of the land doesn’t even cultivate single
crop. In both the Godavari districts, Krishna and Guntur district, two crops
a year is common and there are times where even 3 crops a year are
cultivated. The only reason is WATER.
§   Government issue G.O.’s for implicating its decisions. G.O number 610 is
the longest non implicated G.O in the history of AP. The G.O was issued in
1986 by late NTR who was then the CM of AP, which is not yet implicated. The
G.O speaks about the share of Telangana employees in Government jobs in
Telangana region.
§   33% of the population in Mahaboobnagar district have left the district
for livelihood to different parts of the state due to draught and majority
of them are working as daily labour. No other district has so many people
who fled the home place due to lack of livelihood and working as daily
labour.
§   There are 25 plus government degree colleges in Krishna, Kadapa and
Guntur district while there is not even a single government degree college
in Ranga Reddy district.
§   Dairy development corporation of AP purchases milk from farmers across
the state for distribution. For the same milk, in Andhra, the government pay
Rs. 24 to the farmers and in Telangana they pay Rs. 22 per litre. Partiality
is shown even in milk J
§   In between 2005-2008 government sold lands worth Rs. 20000 crores in and
around Hyderabad which was utilized to build projects in Rayalaseema and
Andhra.
§   Not even a single project was completed in Telangana in the last 5 years
while several projects were completed in Andhra and Rayalaseema.

lastly i think you might be aware , we have achived Independence in 1947 at midnight !!! No one was asked why did u announced this at midnight or who are you to give independence to us !!!!

so many points here which i was reading everywhere on internet, but no body from our telangana talks about how many of these 119 MLAs and tens of ministers really did a fight unitedly to achieve these projects ??

I have some general knowledge for the past 20 years, but i have never seen any from telangana leaders. But now the same old leaders came out unitedly and saying they will change the face of telangana and they expect us to believe it?

No way !!, there won't be any change unless they change their character.

I had been watching a Section ASK PRABHU  - in which there were lot of questions asked on Telangana State by various readers. I had assembeled them and presenting before you.
Your Logic would be true if they would have asked if people of Telangnana  were interested for merger in 1956.
Your logic would have been true if conditions were not violated from time to time in the past 53 years.
Your logic would have been good if in a family both the brothers would have same living standards.
Here your logic would fail as one brother was exploiting the wealth of the other and making the other to struggle to lead a normal life.

India Today ASK PRABHU

Will it not be wise on part of Chandrasekhar Rao to demand 10 medical colleges, 10 engineering colleges, 15 super speciality hospitals, projects worth 1,00,000 jobs and addition of 5,000 MW power instead of a separate Telangana? Why don't you give this proposal to Rao through your magazine?

That is not an answer. It will encourage others to raise similar demands. We have to prepare ourselves for smaller states and better development.

I agree that there should be a separate Telangana State . But, the situation is not as easy in Jharkhand, Uttarakhand or Chhattisgarh. Hyderabad is the key factor here. It can't be given to any state. The only option here is to keep it a common capital like Chandigarh . What do you think?

Hyderabad is not placed as Chandigarh which was in the middle of both the states. The Centre should construct a new world class city as capital of Andhra Pradesh within five years

I'm bit worried about what happens to the announcement of Telangana as there seems to be a 'sponsored' hungama against it. Do you foresee Sonia has enough courage and is shrewd enough to take it forward?

Please wait and see. The UPA and Congress leadership has no other option but to concede the demand for a separate state sooner or later.

Why should KCR use cheap blackmail politics to demand separate state when he has not done anything when he was a Union Minister and an MP? People should start demanding that the elected MLAs, MLCs or MPs start developing the infrastructure rather than settle cheap disputes which is affecting the normal citizen? What is your thought on this? And KCR's TRS should pay for the damages done to the public property as is the case with Congress activists who have damaged the same in coastal Andhra & Rayalaseema?

Please look at the entire issue objectively. KCR has been agitating for Telangana for the past decade. He fought the election as an ally of the Congress. The CMP promised a separate state. He resigned from the government and the Lok  Sabha when he failed to get his Telangana.

If you go by the history of political agitations in various states, there is not a single party which has not participated or encouraged destruction of public properties. Did any one of them pay for the damage?

If AICC step backs on Telangana state deal, Telangana MLAs and MPs may resign and then AP govt. will collapse. Then how will the Union govt. deal with the issue? Are you thinking the UPA govt. will step down on 'T' Deal?

It is not that simple. Even if all the Telangana MLAs and MPs resign, there is no threat to either the state or the Central government for the time being.

I am a Telanganite living in the US . As you are an experienced journalist and you know the in and out of politics, what do you think about the formation of Telangana? Will Telangana state be formed in the near future? Will the UPA government make the separate Telangana happen or it was just a step taken to pacify the agitation?

India needs smaller and viable states if it has to become a superpower. The Centre will and should create a Telangana state before it is too late.

Telangana is a sensitive issue. Is TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu correct in saying that Congress has not consulted all parties before taking this decision? Is it a hasty decision?

How many times should the government consult all parties? Creation of Telangana state was part of the CMP in 2004. NDA government also made a promise to deliver a new state. It has been an electoral issue in which Naidu favored creation of a new state. Now all of them are playing politics.

Is there a risk of TRS turning into another MNS and wage a war on settlers in Hyderabad once a separate Telangana is formed?

I don't think so because TRS leaders have never spoken against outsiders. In fact, they speak good Hindi and Urdu.

Is there any chance of Telangana becoming another Jharkhand, where politicians milk money in a new state while people remain poor? Is there any chance of Telangana becoming another Jharkhand, where politicians milk money in a new state while people remain poor?

Let the new state come into being first. Please don't be pessimist. Unlike Jharkhand, Telangana has a cohesive identity.

Don't you think India is being divided into pieces by forming more states? Recent one is Telangana. Is it because everyone wants to rule and run their own corruption practices? What’s the need for a new state?

I am in favor of smaller states. We should have at least 50 states as against just 30 odd now. Big states with huge population are difficult to govern and encourage caste politics. Smaller states will be stable and easy to administer.

With government giving in to the demand of TRS for the creation of Telangana, it will propel other statehood stirs?

Telangana should have been created long ago and the state wouldn't have faced Naxal problem. Let us divide big states like UP and Maharashtra into smaller states.

Do you think K. Chandrasekhar Rao is right in fasting to push for Telangana? Do you think violence is justified for the cause of Telangana?

I think his non-violent weapon is the most effective way of being herd. Even Morarji Desai sat on fast unto death demanding dissolution of the Gujarat assembly.

Important Notes of Prabhu Chawla:

Studies conducted by various organisations — including India Today magazine’s annual research on the State Of The States — have shown that smaller states are more viable and better governed. Whatever the outcome of the ongoing agitation, it would have done the country a lot of good if it leads to the creation of new and smaller states. Then power will be shared not by the few who hold on to it but by the many who have so far had no stake in it.

If economical growth can only be achieved by 50 small states instead of 30 or less present states, then let the parliament make a resolution and pass it and announce 50 small states at once.

Then the people in the andhra region won't feel that they are humiliated and it is a change process through out the country. But as of now, telanganites (WE) are portraying andhraites are looting us. 5 or more crores of andhra people are not living in our region but our telangana leaders (who are not capable of fighting with the peoples' problems through out this 50 years, "aadaraani bhogamdi nela sari ledu annatlu") blaming the people of other regions.

PRABHU is not an astrologer to look into the future and tell there will not be anything to lose if a state separated or PRABHU won't take any responsibility if such thing happens.

If the 50 states are almost with the same population and number of MP seats for each state are also same, then we may accept the proposal but now states like UP having 80 MP seats will still be there and we 42 become less than 20, will definitely narrow the chances of our MPs to demand for anything in New Delhi.

Even the guys are popular, they will have their personal opinions and their stand on particular issues, PRABHU is one of them and it is so obvious in his answers that he is sitting on the shore and saying the waters will flow according to his assumptions. That is all. Once he is inside the water until his neck, i afraid these same answers won't be there anymore.

Thank you very much for giving our readers more views on telangana and have a good day.

Inaugurating the new State of Andhra Pradesh in Hyderabad, Prime Minister Nehru said that of the many changes that had taken place in India the most significant one was the formation of Andhra Pradesh. "Other great States have also been formed. Nevertheless, I think, the most significant change is here, not only change in the political sense, but also in psychological sense - psychological because the greatest of the old great States vanishes from the map of India and its three parts go in three directions and the major part comes and becomes the important element of Andhra Pradesh. That symbolises not only a political change of importance, but also the gradual basic changes we are bringing about in India."

Nehru is referring to Hyderabad State, Separate Telangana seekers manipulate this and say "Telangana State" merged with "Andhra State".
Fortunately they didn't try to tell the world that KCR is the CM OF TELANGANA STATE IN INDIA WHILE MERGING. :)

What a funny point of view!! Definition of the Democracy!!!

If you are in majority, does that entitle you force your opinion (wrong) on the minority. (Thank god, for the great brains behind the Indian constitution, they did anticipated minds like you, and formed the Article 3 empowering the India Govt. in forming a state)

Hindus who are in a majority in this country do  any atrocities against the Minorities, do you think that is right!! Great!!! I just pity your opinion!!

Don't you know that we (Indians) were in minority in the mighty kingdom of 'British Empire' across the globe.

Moreover, you need to know that merging Andhra (then called Andhra State) with Telangana (then called Hyderabad State) is a conditional one and against the wishes of locals and 1st SRC (State Reorganization Committee). Read the history. (Search for Professor Jayashankar in YouTube). Hints. Gentleman agreement.

And someone is commenting about Nehru.

Nehru acted against the recommendation of 1st SRC. He was a part of a three member committee (J.C.B committee) who take some decisions on some political compulsions.

Even Nehru, who did anticipated that this alliance (merging Andhra With Telangana) is wrong and compared this relation as a husband and wife and said that, they can divorce if it is not working.

Read this.. (search google as 'nehru site:ourtelangana')

"Jawaharlal was more or less forced into the merger by the powerful Andhra lobby in ’56. When Nehru was first approached with the idea of a United state , he remarked "Vishalandhra is an Idea bearing a taint of expansionist Imperialism". Again on 5th march 1955 when he was asked to comment on AP state, in remarked “Ek masoom bholi bhali ladki ko ek natkat ladke ke saat shaadi kiya jaa raha hai, chahe toh woh milke reh sakte hai ya bichad sakte hai”. He clearly foresaw what was in store for Telangana .He rightly indicated that T can separate from A.P to safeguard its interests. But alas, the Andhra politicians like in ’56 are creating hurdles for their self interests"

If you are true, the following are true as well.

1) KCR is the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (with 10MLAs and 2 MPs)
[because majority telanganites rejectd TRS and pro telangana but they are all fools you and the minority group in the same telangana are true]
2) Britishers = your brothers and sisters from Andhra Pradesh
3) Hyderabad State = TELANGANA
4) You are smarter than every one in this world.

Your heart is filled with hatred towards your fellow beings in Andhra Pradesh and you are totally biased. Comfortable in believing in the lies which are conveniently true for you.

So, you better spend your online time on telangana websites which will satisfy your inner desires.

So, "SEPARATE TELANGANA" is important or "DEVELOPMENT OF TELANGANA"?
Can we all fight for the development rather than foe separating it?

can't we see this one demand causing 10 more demands country wide? can't we expect that this idea of separating will continue forever if we entertain it?

""DEVELOPMENT OF TELANGANA" is paramount for me. However, I am totally convinced now and siding with the people that this can only happen now with a 'focused government'. Unfortunately, Indian constitution doesn't allow this until a new state is formed.

This is based on the continuation of false promises/deceives since last 50 years towards the people.

* Non implementation Gentleman's agreement, 1956.
* Abolition of Mulki rules with a constitution amendment. 1972
* false Poll promises of a separate state by both TDP, PRP and other parties, 2004, 2009
See the party manifestos
TDP: rapidshare.com/.../...sam_2009_party_manifesto.pdf (page no. 22)
PRP: rapidshare.com/.../PrajaRajyamPartyManifesto.pdf (page no. 48)

* Not implementing GO 610 (1985) since more than a decade.

* Continuation of diversion of funds/water from this region.

etc.

So, if you want to make a another fresh promise that combined government can resolve these problems, I am sure people won't easily believe, it has to go much great lengths in providing checks and balances while promising (I guess, better is to form a new government)

Good, then let us fight for it being united for our telangana. If andhraites or rayalaseema guys try to cheat telangana, i will join hands with you guys too. like me, there are many for whom the development of telangana is important and at the same time willing to stay united.

Congress, BJP, TDP, PRP manifestos about separate telangana is a joke. None of us believed any of those party's agendas about separate telangana. All those promises are for votes. And we from telangana too know that. But we didn't bother much about it because we are not asking for a separate state.

I totally agree with the people who are fighting for the betterment of telangana except on one statement "Separate Telangana". 119 MLAs is not a small number, let us do the same fight (all the 119 united) for the growth of telangana from now on.

Then definitely, we can hear special packages to telangana, and definitely we can see the enforcement of those packages or projects. It is all depends on us.

"TG 610 Go ippudu implemet chesaru kada"

It's been implemented (not even fully) only and only in one/two departments (AFAIK, Police dept is one of them). And there are many departments in which the collection of data is not even started/completed, set aside repatriate them to local zones (That's even more harder with the given exp.)

"one more point Andhra Pradesh and J&K are the only states having local zone reservations "

you need to understand a little bit of history here. These were the two princely (Hyderabad and J&K, not then Andhra state) states in India which were not ruled by Britishers but by local kings . Not sure about J&K but in Nizam rule (Hyderabad state) people of Telangana were oppressed and severed from having good education unlike in other parts of India where Britishers were ruling (like Andhra State) this has caused severe illiterateness in the local people. And one more thing is that, in Nizam's era Telangana already had 'Mulki' rules (local jobs for local people). So, with this background, when the merger was imposed (Andhra and Telangana) against the Telangana people's wish, the then leaders had signed an 'Gentleman's Agrement'. which had a clause that, the lack of education in Telangana people should not be exploited (this was one of the apprehension in people minds who opposed merger) by others. But unfortunately, after the merger it was found that a lot of jobs went to Andhra people (who had access to good education because of British rule) which violated the above agreement.  This was never corrected by leaders of 'Andhra Pradesh' except some attempts by N T RAMA RAO who listened to this crisis and formed  GO 610 in 1985. But, even this was found to be one more failed promise.

"But you ppl started hatred towards Andhra ppl and saying that they are the only cause for the backwardness of Telangana ! I have to re-think !"

I think, this is a biased media/people with vested interests/politicians created hype. Unfortunately, people are getting dragged into this. I am all for this to be 'STOPPED'. People need to discuss rationally and take an informed judgment.

Anyone can live any where in India peacefully. This is the fundamental right.  After all, we are all Indians.

This is the proceedings of National-Integration Conference Statement !

Important points ..

"It was not possible to formulate comprehensive codes on all these matters without further consultation with the interests involved. There was, however, general agreement among those present at the Conference to the following code for immediate adoption by political parties :

(i) No party should indulge in any activity which would aggrevate existing differences or create mutual hatred or cause tension between different castes and communities religious or linguistic.

(ii) Every political party in any agitation it may launch in respect of any matter should ensure that there is no incitement to violence and that no acts of violence are resorted to. If in spite of its best efforts, there is any outbreak of violence it should be forthwith condemned.

(iii) Political Parties should not resort to a agitation for seeking redress against any grievances relating to communal, caste, regional or linguistic issues, which is likely to disturb pace or to create bitterness or increase tension between the different section of the public, before exhausting all methods of conciliation and meditation."

vallaki appude telusu ilanti regional feelings vaste Country mottam disintegrate avutundi ani..

my reasons to support Telanagana: 150 yrs telanagan Nizam rule lo undhi .. 150 urs Andhra n Rayalseema British rule lo undhi ..There came differences in culture, thinking etc.. Anthe that is the only reason people are divided and fighting .. each ppl telling their own points ..

one more point repu divide ayite Water share telangana ki enta vastundo telsukunte better ! Water share is not just calculated by Catchment area (Read Krishna Tribunal to understand how they divide water ..). Also check NWDA(National Water Development Agency) nwda.gov.in/index2.asp?sublinkid=62&langid=1
how a project will be taken up. They calculate Cost benifit Ratio
Amount benifited / Amount invested in order to carry out projects. According to this huge projects cannot be taken up in Telangana.(pranahitha-chevella ki funds anduke ravatledu .. YSR unte anna emayina chesevademo !(But Telangana ppl hate him !)).

I have been to Mahabubnagar,Nizamabad,Vizayanagaram n Srikakulam and I personally have seen the problems faced by ppl ..

Nice to meet you TG ! I am not asking you to change your opinion.. Know what are you acting  up on !

I appreciate that you dont like hatred .. but have you watched OU JAC meeting .. Hyderabad lo ki Andhra vallani ranivvam .. Parties buildings kulchestam ..anduku bayapdutu undedi and able to support Telangana though it has its genuine reasons !
