The “reach” funda

August 29, 2008 18:00 by viswamitra

Less we know about hockey until Shah Rukh Khan played the key role in Chak De. A ‘dry’ topic suddenly turns interesting when it is / becomes a fave of our beloved persons.

One of my friends never liked a dish that is made of paneer. He wished to try it once at his favorite restaurants of Delhi. Since that moment he started tasting it at places elsewhere. Within three years he knew everything about paneer and tasted almost all paneer-recipes. Interestingly, now the restaurant is no longer there in New Delhi.

In our lives, most of the unknown things come and sit on our minds with the influence of our loved ones and pets. In my childhood, I used to enjoy the movies so much that I watched along with my father. Again, here the credit goes to dad, but not to those movies.

You might have felt like wearing baggy pants that were donned by your favourite hero, or sometimes, even thought of taking up a profession with his inspiration – though the profession is totally new to you.

Administration, government bodies, protocol and many other constitutional affairs are Greek and Latin to common people living in this country. But when their favorite person forays into politics they certainly think at least for few minutes what he/she is up to and what it really means to be in power.

In Andhra Pradesh many people came to know about this with NT Rama Rao’s shift to politics from movies. The number of constituencies, the self-government concept, the language and many other issues were magnified and became interest of public who used to worship him, loved him and people even who hated him.

Whether the person wins or loses doesn’t matter. One big advantage of people with stardom entering politics is the awareness levels of people grow. People, especially the so-called professionals working for MNCs and local corportaes (who never tried to vote, didn’t bother to know who their rulers are and how their citizenship helps the country grow further) will give a thought to elect someone close to their heart and see him in power.

This in turn develops their knowledge of society and reminds the responsibility as a citizen though their favorite leader is not in power.  The “reach” factor is going to work again with Chiranjeevi’s new party launch. Unfortunately, sometimes, the same factor affects the winning chances of true-to-society, hardworking and passionate leaders.

Truly Trilinga!

August 18, 2008 23:14 by viswamitra
Fight at your best… the winner would become the CM. This is the mantra delivered by kingmaker RR to big contestants Chiranjeevi and Chandrababu Naidu!

It is overheard that media baron Ramoji Rao drew out a solution to beat YSR in the battle of Elections 2009.

If they turn out with strikingly equal scores, the one who gains more support from independents will lead the government. In such case, independents would be at great demand.

Swarnandhrapradesh, Santhoshandhrapradesh, Harithandhrapradesh... Which Andhra Pradesh are we up to??

UNDER PROGRESS

August 11, 2008 22:56 by viswamitra

Q: Hey, what is happening?
A: Roadwork is under progress sir.

Q: I remember, it is laid recently, right?
A: Yes sir, but heavy rains turned it to potholes and gravel.

?: Didn’t those idiots know roads are meant for all seasons?
Eating away our money and time.

After 2 weeks...

Q: Hey, what is happening?
A:  Roadwork is under progress sir.

Q: You repaired it recently?
A: They are not us. We are laying a water pipeline along the road.

?: Didn’t you make any prior arrangements for that?
Eating away our money and time.

After 3 weeks...

Q: Hey, what is happening?
A:  Roadwork is under progress sir.

Q: You repaired it recently?
A: They are not us. We are expanding the road.

?: Didn’t you anticipate the need for wide roads earlier?
Eating away our money and time.

After 4 weeks...

Q: Hey, what is happening?
A:  Roadwork is under progress sir.

Q: You repaired it recently?
A: They are not us. We are trenching it as part of metro rail project.

?: We are dying here with pollution and road accidents.
Eating away our money and time.

This time THE RULER heard the grievance.

SmileAll this work is part of development my dear.

FrownHell with your procedures and developments.
You won’t be our authority next time.

Government changed.
The new government has started “their” development process.

Q: Hey, what is happening?
A: Roadwork is under progress sir.

Real estate surge in coastal Andhra!

June 23, 2008 16:28 by viswamitra

Whether it is KCR or Devender, doesn’t matter. Realtors and landlords of coastal region enjoy frequent storms in “T-cup”.  Earlier, land prices in Godavari, Krishna and Guntur districts of Andhra region were shot up to extreme highs with “separate” boom.

Now, it is time to change the price tags again. Unlike Telangana region, tier two areas of Coastal Andhra have got some geographical advantages. Till Dec 08 or Jan 09 there is a chance to find all towns and urban areas in this region grow almost at the equal rate while real estate business in Hyderabad and newly developing “greater” region to have a thud.

T-Factor: TDP minus TDG

June 23, 2008 12:22 by viswamitra

It was not a ruffle between Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Tulla Devender Goud, but a strategic move by the latter to fix the other leaders and party chief go against him! While KCR’s defeat made him to sense the advantageous position, Talasani’s tantrum and the otiose Core Committee brought in sympathy. If the committee were positive on Telangana, he would have taken the lead and TDP would have retained power and powerful leader as well.

In that case, defining more rules, Chandrababu Naidu could always strengthen the high command and have control on divided regions. What is TDP after Chandrababu Naidu? He doesn’t have an answer readily. Finding a right fit for number two, three, etc, positions that are considered by the activists and people, is not so easy. It demands undeterred support from people and experience to face the strong leaders from other parties.

Party president Chandrababu Naidu made it clear that party is vital but not the benefits of few leaders. He is right. Tomorrow some other leader from a different region would come with the same separatism slogan. But a party chief’s experience lies in retaining a strong leader without leaving him to the people he is representing, (especially when political vacuum in a region attracts key personnel of his team) at the cost of party’s benefits. That acumen helps a party to retain substitutes to the Chief’s position.

He should have given it a try to translate leader’s benefits into party’s benefits with a strategic approach; because, it pays to retain a right substitute.  As Mr Nagam said, this is unfortunate and not an inviting change in a party like TDP. “People-Party-Power”  -  consider this sequence as a cycle or fundamental. As long as parties do not realize that they just act as bridges to bring people to power, such unfortunate incidents keep repeating especially at times of rapidly changing political equations.
