Committee for consultations on situation in Andhra Pradesh constituted

The 5 member expert committee to examine the demand for a separate Telangana was constituted on Thursday.

The committee will hold wide-ranging consultations with all sections of the people and all political parties and groups in Andhra Pradesh and will be reporting to the Government of India. This committee will not report to the parliament like the usual committees do.

Retired Supreme Court Judge Justice B N Srikrishna chairs the committee. Other members of the panel include Prof (Dr) Ranbir Singh, vice chancellor of the Delhi based National Law University, Dr Abusaleh Shariff, Senior Research Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute in Delhi, Dr Ravinder Kaur, professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT-Delhi, and Former Home Secretary Vinod K Duggal.


The terms of reference are being drafted and will be finalized in consultation with the Chairman and will be announced by the ministry of Home Affairs officially this evening. [More]
